XMReality conducts research and development in the areas of Augmented reality and Mixed reality.
One product at the prototype stage is XMViewer. This is a tool that makes it possible to insert virtual objects, designed with the help of a computer, into a real environment. In principle, it is a telescope where a computer adds virtual objects into the image field. The computer registers what the observer is looking at and from what angle. It will then place and rotate the virtual object giving an experience of reality.
XMViewer has a number of possible uses:
Construction visualisation – walking around an imaginary construction site and seeing the planned buildings from different angles.
Military training – simulating battles where virtual tanks and soldiers appear in a real environment.
Historical visualisation – walking around a place and seeing what it looked like in the past.
XMReality also works with medical visualisation based on magnetic resonance images that make it possible to see where, for instance, a tumour is located before the operation takes place.
